A day in the life of Winston Suk
Last Thursday, June 25th 2009 I took my camera around for the day to document what my life was like. Following is an account told in the first person with.
Here is a day in the life of Winston Suk. I promise this all happened.

I started the day by greeting a spider. He was hanging out in front of my apartment. He is a bit out of focus and over exposed but I was in a runs and didnt take the time to take his glamor shot.

Most of the time I ride my bike to work but for the last week I have been taking the train to work with my wife. The dude look so rad I took his picture. I see him sometimes on the train and luckily I had my camera this time.

For lunch my coworkers and I went to a American Chinese restaurant called Uncle John's. I saw some pigeons so I took their pictures just because. Funny how the mighty dinosaurs evolved into such passive scavenging little animals.

Uncle John's has been around forever... or so we have been told. They are owned by chinese owner and hey have the best food on this side of town. We eat their at least once a week. I recommened their pork chop.

They might not look like much but its the taste that counts.

A typical day in their resturant. Barely any room to eat, but all worth it..

Union Station in LA has some pretty amazing architecture. It may not seem like it because the commute is so mundane, but if you take a look around, art is everywhere..

The train is coming.

The train is coming again..

Farmers market in South Pasadena was my last stop for the day. I met with my wife and our friend Jen. This is the end of the market. The sunset was pretty nice that day.

I had a big hot dog at the Farmers Market. The food was okay. I should have gotten Happy Inca, but I wanted to try something new today. I chose poorly.

A awhile back I went to a record store day event in Claremont and I saw a bluegrass player jam atRhino Records . To my surprise I saw him again at my Farmers Market in Pasadena. If I see him again Ill try to pick up his record. If he has one.. Or maybe just donate some money so that I can take some close up pictures.

At the end of the night we saw this resturant call Firefly. Kinda fancy but it reminded me of Joss Whedon for some reason. I gotta try it one day.

All in all it was a pretty long and eventful day. Is saw some new things and ate some good food.

LR round Two
So this is my second attempt at using LR. Im getting use to the UI and I am able to relate to a lot more of the settings. I basically compare LR to a quick version of PS with contact sheet capabilities. Here are some of my pictures for my Bachelor Party in March.

Michael is all suited up and ready to take on some danger.

A line up of my best men minus Will. These guys got me into this craziness.

On our shoots we had these cut knives. I didnt realize what they were until Miggy told me they were incase my shoot didnt open. Damn I'm glad i found out after and not before.

On of my best friends in the whole world was with me for the jump. Hyun was so ready for this jump. He streched and had the look of danger in his Korean eye.

My right hand man in photography and anything else fanboy was with me as well. Im pretty convinced he thought of the skydiving. I was pissed at him for about five minutes... but how can you stay mad at a man with a yellow jumper.

"Look at me now!"

Who said skydiving wasnt dangerous?

After the day we were so pooped.. Didnt even have time to go between the sheets.

On our way to vegas we hit 88 mph...., but we didnt travel back in time.

This is me after the jump. Obviously I was not a pro and I had to do tandum. This was my jump instructor. All in all it was a fun experience but I wont be signing up to do this anytime soon.

LR Round One - Santa Ana Zoo
Back about a month or two ago, Chrissy and I went to the Santa Ana Zoo. I edited the photos a while back using PS CS3. Just this weekend Jose got me a copy of LR. This program was awesome. It takes all the basic, but essential functions of photoshop for photographers, and the UI of Bridge. It took me a quarter of the time editing and saving out these files with LR than I did with PS. Below are some of the photo editing results.

close up of potbelly pig

Pot belly pig eatting his veggies.

Goats horns are very cool looking. I think I over exposed the lighting on this shot, but i like the shot composition.

This cock was mad about something. Im guessing that is not his display.

There was an elephant ride at the Santa Ana Zoo. Every circle the elephant made he was given a mouth full of bamboo. What a majestic animal.

The lemurs were a delight to see. They were so social and sat around like humans do, eating and scratching themselves.

This nappy lemur seemed to be some what of an outside. Like a roughian from the streets looking, scavenging for something..

I swear birds are evolved forms of dinosur. Just looking at him made me think of Jurassic Park and Dr. Allan Grant's theory on modern day bird being evolved dinos.

Man he looks fat. His head was not proportional to his body at all.

This was a horrible shot but I loved the look of this tucan. "Follow my nose!"

Small monkeys always make me laugh. I loved how his eyes were so close together. Made him more innocent that he actually was.

The Bald Eagle looked around and stood as if he owned the whole park. Such a presence to see.

Nappy parrots looked as if they were put in the spin cycle and were not combed properly after their wash. So cute and fluffy.

In the aviaory we did not see many birds but we did see this guy. He was very shy and always had his back to us but we did manage to get a few profile face shots. I loved his colors and his bill. It was the highlight of my visit.
**I dont concider myself a professional photographer. It is more of a hobbie that very much enjoy.

Mini Holiday Sequoia Nation Forest

Back Entrance to Sequoia National Forest

Random Graffiti at a gas station. Is it a dinosaur?? RAwR

During our trip we did not fillup on gas. There was a store in the middle of nowhere called the I Forgot Store. The pump looked like a robot from Wall-E, so I took its picture..

Next to our cabin there was a whole family deer. They were very shy, some of them were kind enough to pose for a camera shot.

Little horns. Very cute young buck. Reminded me of Bambi.

One of the spectacles at Sequoia was the Crystal Caves. The caves are always 50 degrees Fahrenheit all year around. Its a sacrificial cave for touring but there are miles of caves in the national forest.

Before we went to the cave there were a bunch of waterfalls along the way. Fresh snow runoff from the mountains.

Big mountain. I forgot the name of the rock but it looked like a big bald head.

One of the best things on this mini holiday was the rafting. A while back I went skydiving, not by choice..... long story. After skydiving, nothing seems scary. We did a class 3 river but our guide ( the lady with the cowboy hat in the back) took us on some class 4 drops. She said that we were the best group of the week.
All in all the mini holiday was a great getaway. I wish all weekends were like this.
